Do you belong to a Northamptonshire based voluntary organisation or charity which is struggling to raise funds? If so, Market Harborough Building Society Charitable Foundation may be able to help.
Since it was founded in December 1999 the Foundation has donated nearly £100,000 to local good causes. Paul Beardsmore, Secretary to the Foundation, commented "We give awards to organisations based in the Society's core area, which comprises Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. At the moment most of our applications come from organisations based in Leicestershire, so the Trustees would particularly welcome applications for grants from organisations based in Northamptonshire".
One of the organisations that benefited in 2007 was Vine Community Trust, which manages a community day centre in Desborough. The Trust was delighted with the donation which helped to bring the day centre's electrical and fire safety measures up to standard.
Another charity that received a grant was Northampton based Spencer Contact, which provides second-hand furniture and household effects to people in need. The Foundation's award allowed Spencer Contact to provide uniforms for their volunteers, and thus to give confidence to donors.
In all, the Foundation provided grants exceeding £12,000 in 2007. If you are looking for some help with funding and would like to be considered for a grant, write to Paul Beardsmore at the Head Office address, or email charity@mhbs.co.uk
