If you have internet access, have you considered opening an internet account? Many savers are looking for an account that rewards them with a high interest rate whilst still giving access to their money. You can either give us notice that you need some of your money in the future or, in an emergency, you can have immediate access to your money, with a penalty. |
Is this account suitable for me? This account is suitable for someone aged 16 or over, who can give 30 days notice of any withdrawal via the internet. It is not suitable for someone requiring a fixed rate of interest or someone not prepared to pay a penalty for immediate access on withdrawals. Neither is it suitable for someone who needs cash withdrawals or who wishes to use a branch or postal service.
How much can I invest? The account must be opened with a minimum of £1; further deposits can be made up to a maximum of £150,000 per person (£300,000 for a joint account). The minimum balance at any time is £1.How can I pay money in?You can add to your account whenever you wish, simply complete a paying in slip and send a cheque to our Head Office address. Cheques must be made payable to the account holder and not to the Society. You can also transfer funds from another account with the Society by post or online, and transfer from an account with a bank or another building society. To do this you will need our sort code 20-49-08 and our account number 70608386 and also your onthedot 30 Day Notice account number, which should be inserted in the roll or reference number field. Please note that certain banks do not automatically provide a roll or reference number field if you bank with them online. You may have to telephone them so that they can set up this information for you.Do I have access to my money? You can have penalty-free access to your money if you give the Society 30 days notice. Instant access is permitted at any time, but a penalty equal to the full 30 days gross interest will be charged on the amount you withdraw. How can I access my money?Withdrawals can only be made online via You-View, our online account service. You have the option to either transfer money to another Society account or request a 3 day (BACS) or same day (CHAPS) transfer to a bank account nominated by you. You will be required to register details of a nominated bank account during your application. This account must be a personal current account held in your name, and with a valid UK sort code. There is no charge for 3 day BACS transfers; however there is a charge for same day (CHAPS) transfers - see Savers' Fees for Additional Services. How much interest can I earn?See our Current Interest Rates. Your money will start earning interest for you from the date of receipt of your cheque(s).How and when is interest paid?Interest is paid annually on 30th June, or on the last day of each month. You can have the interest added to your onthedot 30 Day Notice account, paid into a bank account or transferred to another Society account (not applicable to all account types). If you choose to have interest added to the account it will be subject to the same withdrawal conditions as the capital.
