"Market Harborough Building Society is very much a customer focused organisation, and that's one of the reasons why I am still working here after 15 years. The work is varied and interesting, but most of all rewarding. 

Starting as a part time Branch Assistant at my local branch, I initially took the job to fit around my young family. When I was ready to take on additional responsibility, MHBS gave me the opportunity and support I needed to progress my career, becoming a Branch Manager and later to head our six branches. More recently. I have taken on the role of Mortgage Processing Manager. This has given me the opportunity to learn something new , take qualifications to broaden my knowledge and be involved with the ever changing needs of the business. Something I believe I would not have been able to do in a larger organisation.

Everyone is seen as an individual here and has the opportunity to put their ideas forward, challenge current practices and be heard - MHBS really is a great place to work!"

"I've been working for MHBS for 2 years, having started as a Relief Branch assistant, travelling around our different branches to provide cover for holidays and absences. Before this, I was trained at the Head Office branch which gave me a great all-round grounding, and I was only working in branch when both my Manager and I felt ready. All the staff at our branches were very friendly and welcoming, which helped me get comfortable with my new role very quickly. 

After almost a year working on the Relief team, I applied for a role at one of the Community branches, and have really enjoyed working there. We're a small team in a large village, so we can get to know our customers really well and understand their needs. My Branch Manager provides regular support, and the development programme has helped broaden learning and skills. 

We have time for fun too, and as well as community activities in the branches, there are plenty of social activities organised by the Society where you can meet up and engage with people from different departments across the wider society team. It's a happy place to work, and I'm enjoying the job and the people."

"I joined the Market Harborough Building Society in September 2014, from previous branch network roles elsewhere in the Building Society sector. I was keen to continue in this sector by joining a local society for the next step of my career.

I currently work in the mortgage sales team as the Senior Mortgage & Insurance Specialist, having had the benefit of great on-the-job training and support in studying for my CeMAP qualification. The Society is also supporting me through advanced learning in a programme with the Building Societies Association, which, as the first of its kind, is very exciting.

In my role I particularly enjoy being part of a positive, challenging team with a can-do attitude when it comes to creating bespoke lending solutions. I am also fortunate to work closely with corporate partners, which enables me to travel to London regularly. Though a typical day is well structured, two are never the same! The Society has offered me great support in my two short years here, and I have taken up a number of opportunities including my education, industry conferences, and taking part in local charitable events that we sponsor. 

I would recommend Market Harborough Building Society as a place to work for anybody who is prepared to learn, develop their skills and be part of a professional and successful team."
